Entering the main entrance under the Filarete Tower, you immediately find yourself in the beautiful parade ground where Ludovico il Moro gathered his troops. In addition to the soldiers, the ladies and knights of Milanese seigniory (first the Visconti and then the Sforza dynasties) walked on the ancient cobblestones of the courtyard together with all the court artists. The greatest of all, Leonardo da Vinci, frescoed the wonderful Sala delle Asse [The Room of Wooden Boards] that is accessed directly from the courtyard of the northeast tower, also called the Falconiera Tower. Not far from here is the last statue sculpted by Michelangelo: the incomparable Rondanini Pietà. You then pass through the gateway overlooking the timeless panorama of Sempione Park and the Arco della Pace. Perfumers Luca Maffei and Antoine Lie created a modern luxury fragrance based on the ancient concept of nobility of Castello Sforzesco. The rose — not surprisingly called the queen of flowers — thus seems to fall in love with saffron (the king of spices) under the luminous notes of bergamot and the mystical notes of incense.
